Arabella

“Arabella” is an Andalusian/Quarter Horse cross.  She is a beautiful flea-bitten grey mare with a white mane and tail who is 32 years old, weighs 1100 pounds and stands 15.1 h  high.  She has a willingness to work with a lively personality who most of all loves to have her face brushed!

Arabella is the  matriarch of the Therapeutic Riding program!  She is always ready to serve!

 


 

Big Boy

“Big Boy” is a gelded Clydesdale/Quarter Horse cross.  He  is the herd boss of the west pasture who is 19 years old, weighs 1800 pounds and stands 16 h high.  He is a retired racetrack “lead pony” horse who has a sweet temperament and loves being groomed.  Here at Dayspring he has quite the following of admirers!  You have to earn his trust with kindness and gentleness because of his years at the track!  He is part of the Veterans’ program.

As you can guess, Big Boy loves to eat and he likes to be fed at exactly the same time each day. He stands by the gate patiently, nickering softly to his favorite person (we know it’s because of the food).


 

Hurley

Prince Miracles Poco “Hurley” is a handsome bay Quarter Horse  with 4 white socks who is 14 years old, weighs slightly over 900 pounds, and stands 15 h high.  He has a sweet, gentle spirit with a genuine loveable quality.  “Hurley” has 1 blue eye, 1 brown eye with a blue spot, and his coat changes colors with the seasons.  He has a black coat in the winter but a shiny light brown one in the summer.  He is double registered as a Paint and also as a Quarter Horse.


 

Jewel

“Jewel” is  a Paint/Miniature who is as sweet as she is adorable!  At 15 years old she is the calm and quiet matriarch of Dayspring’s “mini” herd.  She is very gentle, enjoys being groomed and pampered by our clients and volunteers.   Her most unusual expressive, sky blue eyes make her a favorite of  the young and old!  She is a real sweetheart!   She is part of Dayspring’s Therapeutic program.


 

Joaquin

“Joaquin” (pronounced: wahk-keen) is a gelded, black and white Paint with one blue eye and one brown-gold eye who is 12 years old, has a muscular and athletic build, weighs slightly over 1000 pounds, and stands 14.3 h high.   He is  handsome, smart, and tries hard to please!   He is part of the Veterans’ program.

 


 

Lexi

“Lexi” is a gray, Arabian and Pony of America cross who is 6 years old, weighs 750 pounds, and stands 12 h high.  She is Dayspring’s newest and youngest equine.  Although still in training, her affectionate and loving characteristics make her an excellent candidate for the therapeutic program.


 

Marigold

Star Struck “Marigold” is a palomino mare, Miniature show horse who is 6 years old, weighs 250 pounds, and stands 33 inches tall.  She loves being around people, being groomed, and given tons of attention and  affection by Dayspring’s clients and volunteers!  She is part of the Therapeutic program.


 

 Melvin

“Melvin” is a gelded, dark bay with a white streak down his face, a striking Welsh/Shetland pony cross who is 6 years old, weighs 450 pounds, and stands 10.2 h high.  He is smart, loveable, and always ready to please.  He is learning how to pull a cart; he enjoys children, and loves to be pampered.  He is part of Dayspring’s Therapeutic program.


 

 

Toots

Toots” is a lovely strawberry roan, mix-gaited, mare, pony who is 14 years old, weighs slightly over 850 pounds, and stands 13.1 h high.  She is a “go with the flow” kind of girl and the perfect size for Dayspring’s  younger riders.  Her loveable temperament and people-pleasing nature makes her the perfect therapeutic riding pony.  “Toots” is also used as a lesson horse.  She was donated to Dayspring by Board member, Tommy Crowell.


 

Walker

“Walker” is a gelded, beautiful sorrel Quarter Horse/draft cross with a white blaze.  He is the herd boss of the east pasture, 13 years old, weighs slightly over 1000 pounds, and stands 15 h high.  He has a sweet temperament and eager to learn new things!  He relates well to people and always wants to please!  He is part of Dayspring’s Veterans’ program and also known for his love for “trick riding.”
